Training and Certification
Becon is committed to employee training and development. Our training program is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of our craft professionals. Becon has been a charter member and sponsor of the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) since 1996. The NCCER curricula is accredited and internationally recognized. It focuses on developing and enhancing construction and maintenance craft skills.
Our training program is a combination of Becon-designed classes, off-the-shelf programs, and NCCER curricula. In addition, we partner with local trade associations and educational institutions to offer our employees a wider range of opportunities for career growth and development.
Each jobsite has a training coordinator and facilities offering our employees opportunities to upgrade current skills or learn new trades. Classes are offered after working hours at no cost to the employees. Training includes classroom learning as well as practical hands-on exercises. Employees receive transcripts upon completion of each course, and their training history is maintained in the NCCER registry where they can be accessed whenever needed.
In addition, employees who are fully capable and experienced in a trade, but not certified, have the opportunity to take a skills assessment test. Employees passing both the written and practical tests will be certified. In many cases, certified employees have the opportunity to earn higher wages.
Becon is committed to providing craft supervisors the training and tools they need to be the best leaders in the industry. Supervisory and pre-supervisory personnel are required to attend a comprehensive training program that includes fundamental leadership and technical skill training.
