How do I apply with Becon?
Becon takes employment applications at any of the ongoing project employment and training centers at at the central employment and training center in Deer Park, Texas.  Please see the Career Opportunities page of this site to obtain directions to our project sites or to review project employment needs.
Who is Becon?
Becon Construction Company is a subsidiary of Bechtel Corporation, one of the world’s leading engineering-construction companies.  Becon provides merit-shop construction and continuing plant services to projects and owners throughout North America.
Where are the projects located?

What kinds of project does Becon do?
Becon provides construction and plant services for projects and customers in the power, petroleum, chemical, and mining industries among others. 
How do I improve my skills to make more money?
Every Becon construction project offers a combination of skills upgrade training based on the curriculum developed by the National Center of Construction Education and Research (NCCER). These skill upgrade training classes are offered to all employees interested in the trade at no cost to the employee. Many of our projects offer wage increase incentives for completing courses in the program. Becon also offers tuition reimbursement to qualified employees as well as presents courses on site that help an employee prepare for promotion of trade classification upgrade.  Please see the Career Opportunities page on this site to learn more about the industry-leading Becon craft skills training program.
What kind of benefits does Becon offer?
In addition to the benefits derived from training, employees are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, and life insurance programs while employed at Becon. Where are the hiring centers?
Each Becon project has an employment and training center designated to handle the recruiting of project employment needs.  Please see the Contacts and Locations page of this site for directions to the Becon employment and training centers or visit our Career Opportunities page to research our employment needs.
When can I go to work?
Depending on individual project schedules and needs, Becon typically begins recruiting for upcoming job openings three weeks in advance of job needs. When you are selected for employment, the goal is to get you to work as soon as possible as we know you want to go to work and we want you there. How many local people will you hire?
Becon has a commitment to its incumbent workforce to try and keep them employed from project to project. Becon works in many places and in many environments. This means there will always be significant opportunities for local workers who meet our qualifications. This policy of hiring local workers contributes to the success of projects and communities in which Becon works. As a vendor or subcontractor, how do I get on a Becon project bid list?
On the larger projects Bechtel provides engineering, procurement, and subcontracting services for Becon.  The Bechtel vendor/subcontractor portal provides direct access to Bechtel’s procurement and subcontracts organizations.  Through the portal, a company can request Bechtel to consider and qualify them for bidders’ lists.
 
 
On plant services sites, Becon frequently provides management services as agent for the owner organization.  In these situations, vendors and subcontractors may contact the owner directly or they can contact Becon directly at the sites.  Contact numbers are provided on the Contact Us and Project Locations pages.
How long does a typical project last?
Single grassroots projects typically last between six months and two years depending on the size, complexity, and scope of the project.  In some cases, Becon has an ongoing presence and may be at a site indefinitely.  The plant services projects are a case in point.  Becon has been at one site since 1992.
If I have a safety issue, who do I contact?
The best person to contact is the Becon site safety supervisor on the site where there is a concern.  Contact the site manager if the site safety supervisor is unavailable, although any Becon supervisor on site will direct the concern to the proper channel.

Is Becon union or non-union?
Becon is a merit-shop employer. We operate in a variety of construction execution arrangements as either construction management, direct hire, or a combination of the two. We do work side by side with union contractors and recognize the individual workers' right to choose whatever arrangement they wish as they pursue their career goals.
